{Frequently Inquired Queries}

What do you use to make your artwork?
I use Winsor & Newton watercolor paints, Arches hot press watercolor paper, Strathmore drawing paper, Sakura Micron pens, mechanical pencils, and Adobe Photoshop CS6 to make my pieces.

How about a tutorial?
If you discover how an illusionist performs, his acts are no longer magic, they are only tricks.

Who are your inspirations?
I adore the work of Arthur Rackham, Edward Gorey, Edmund Dulac, John Bauer, Dr. Seuss, Maurice Sendak, Tony DiTerlizzi, Chris Riddell, Gris Grimly, and hundreds of others. I'm not only inspired by painters, but also musicians, film makers, and writers.

Are your taking commissions?
Yes! Finally, I've opened commissions! But due to demand, I only accept 5 at a time. To get on my waiting list and get a quote, e-mail me:

Do you sell prints?
Yes! My shop is right over here:

Do you have a(n) artbook/novel/comic book/something I can physically hold with your work in it?
"Midnight Phantasmagory" was just released, and I have two pieces in that, as well as "Spectrum:18" "Sketching from the Imagination" and "Art Fundamentals" which you can order on
I've done cover work for several anthologies and novels, including: "The Orphan and the Thief," "The Pumpkin House," "The Gothic Blue Book I -III," "Loteria," and "Santa Muerte" among others, all available on Amazon.
My debut children's book, "Sarah Faire and the House at the End of the World" was released in 2013. You can grab it at!

When will you finish (insert project name)?
All of my projects are very dear to me, and I intend to finish them all. "Amarantha's Red Ribbon," the Halloween alphabet and my retelling of "Beauty and the Beast" are all still in limbo, but they're all coming along, I promise!

Can I have tattoos made of your work?
Of course! I love when people get tattoos of my work, and I love getting photos of the finished products! E-mail me your photos at:

Can I use your work on my social networking site?
Yes! You're welcome to use my artwork on your blog, twitter, facebook, myspace, livejournal, etc. with the proper credit somewhere on your page.
My artwork is here to share, but please keep in mind that this is how I make a living. Don't rip off my work and say it's yours, and don't try to make money from it. I have an army of minion creeps who look out for me, and they'll find you. They always do.

Can I use your work as a reference for my drawing?
If you’re genuinely referencing my artwork, not simply copying one of my pieces, feel free to do so! All I ask is that you mention my work as your source of inspiration - and I’d love a link to the piece!
The only thing I absolutely cannot condone, is if you’re copying my work (or any artist’s work for that matter) and then selling it. Draw your own rad stuff, yeah?

I'm an art student, and I have some questions about my terrifying future as an artist! Help!
I'll be happy to give some advice or answer a few questions for you! E-mail them to me at:

Can you look at my DeviantArt gallery and critique my work?
I wish I had the time to! If I'm having a slow day I can get to a few if you post a link somewhere on my page, but I just can't get to everyone, I'm sorry!
I can't reply to every comment, but the ones on my front page or the ones with questions I try to answer briefly when I have time to do so.

Advice from a Caterpillar by AbigailLarson
Advice from a Caterpillar
Now that "Necromancia Opus: VI" is out (BUY YOUR COPY HERE:… ) I think it's okay to show this off - The anthology this year is "Alice in Wonderland" themed artwork from tons of amazing illustrators, and this is the piece I created specifically for the book! It's a limited run, so you have to get your order in fast! They'll be available at the Necromancia table at Paris Comicon and Japan Expo this Summer, as well!

Hey creeps!

Now that the Spring convention and gallery run has come to an end, I'm already thinking about the Summer and Fall shows! Namely, my favorite West Coast haunt,
ScareLA! The spooks are coming back, and they've started selling tickets! Grab your weekend pass now! I hope to see many of you LA creeps there!

And as always, keep an eye out for new prints and merch in my online store!

For more updates, follow me on facebook and twitter!

Keep creeping!
