| What do you use to make your artwork? I use Winsor & Newton watercolor paints, Arches hot press watercolor paper, Strathmore drawing paper, mechanical pencils, and Adobe Photoshop Elements to make my pieces. How about a tutorial? If you discover how an illusionist performs, his acts are no longer magic, they are only tricks. Who are your inspirations? I adore the work of Arthur Rackham, Edward Gorey, Edmund Dulac, John Bauer, Dr. Seuss, Maurice Sendak, Tony DiTerlizzi, Chris Riddell, Gris Grimly, and hundreds of others. I'm not only inspired by painters, but also musicians, film makers, and writers. Are your taking commissions? Not at the moment, because I'm trying to finish several projects at once. I will consider some side work at times, but I'll make an announcement in my journal here on DA when I open commissions. Do you sell prints? Right now, I only sell prints here on DA and on my Etsy: [link] Do you have a(n) artbook/novel/comic book/something I can physically hold with your work in it? "Midnight Phantasmagory" was just released, and I have two pieces in that, as well as "Spectrum:18" which you can order on Amazon.com. I'm working on several books right now, so it's going to be a while before anything is finalized and released, but I'll certainly let the world know when that happens! When will you finish (insert project name)? All of my projects are very dear to me, and I intend to finish them all. "Amarantha's Red Ribbon," the Halloween alphabet and my retelling of "Beauty and the Beast" are all still in limbo, but they're all coming along, I promise! Can I have tattoos made of your work? Of course! I love when people get tattoos of my work, and I love getting photos of the finished products Can I use your work on my social networking site? Yes! You're welcome to use my artwork on your blog, twitter, facebook, myspace, livejournal, etc. with the proper credit somewhere on your page. My artwork is here to share, but please keep in mind that this is how I make a living. Don't rip off my work and say it's yours, and don't try to make money from it. I'll find you, and you'll be sorry. Can I use your work as a reference for my drawing? If you're genuinely referencing my artwork, not simply copying one of my pieces, feel free to do so! All I ask is that you mention my work as your source of inspiration - and I'd love a link to the piece! I'm an art student, and I have some questions about my terrifying future as an artist! Help! I'll be happy to give some advice or answer a few questions for you! E-mail them to me at: abigail@abigaillarson.com. Can you look at my DeviantArt gallery and critique my work? I wish I had the time to! If I'm having a slow day I can get to a few if you post a link somewhere on my page, but I just can't get to everyone, I'm sorry! I can't reply to every comment, but the ones on my front page or the ones with questions I try to answer briefly when I have time to do so. |
