In keeping with my updates for the "Author and Creation" project, here's my new version of Edgar! I love this one so much more than the original, and it was so fun to draw!

Yes, perfect tribute to the famous poem with well placed references. I recognized some even the black cat although I haven't read it yet. My guess is the shadow behind the grave might be the man from 'Tell Tale Heart' Not sure about the shadows behind Poe though.  This I can see as an illustration for a collection of Edgar Allen Poe stories of if his stories were part of an anthology.

Stunning work as always.
I have 2 questions if you don't mind

1- What are you using for inking lines
2- How do you manage to have these precise, sharp areas done with watercolor, and still keep these colors that smooth looking? (maybe I should stop using acrylic inks, they dry too fast and the pigments does no move afterwhile, and it does not allow this)

Thank you! I use a variety of tools - Micron and Faber Castell fine point drawing pens in several different sizes (usually from .005 up to .03), and for painting I use many different kinds of watercolor brushes to get precise lines, as well as broad strokes. I paint on hot press watercolor paper which helps with the texture. I clean up the lines and adjust the colors in Photoshop. I hope that helps!

When I saw the thumbnail my very first thought was that he might sit and wait for the Poe toaster. :) But, not, Lenore's grave, fair enough.

My father told me a story about Poe, that supposedly happened sometime in the 1930's. A lady gets into a cab and asks to be taken to the "Poe House." Idiot cabbie takes her to a home for indigent women.

Awesome! I like how you've referenced some of his stories here; Lenore, The Red Death, the Raven, the Black Cat. Those are the ones I've spotted. Are there any I missed?

Great! You got most of them - the graveyard itself is from "The Spirits of the Dead" and there's the shadow of a woman... whose it is, I'll let you decide!

Hey, I love your style, and I noticed you used ink and watercolour. I've been thinking of buying some india ink to start experimenting with, are there any tips/brands/ general advice you can give for starting out with ink? Thanks.
