Hector and Little Lavinia by AbigailLarson Hector and Little Lavinia by AbigailLarson
Well, I had introduced our main characters in the first piece, but this one is for a little more background:

Murdoch Earl Makhector is the carnival's director and illusionist. A dark past gave him an irascible, austere, and generally uninviting disposition, but he also has a kind and sympathetic nature toward social outcasts - this being the main reason he started his carnival. Greatly distrusting most people, he spends most of his time either hunting about wherever they're camped for new specimens to add to his Carnival of Curiosities, or cloistered in his cabin reading obscure histories, grimoires and tomes of an arcane nature.

Lavinia was only a child when she wandered into the carnival's midway, attracted by the strange sounds and creatures wandering about, and especially the smell of food. She had been left alone in the woods after her witch caretaker died, and was quite hungry when Hector found her stealing food from one of the carts.
Far from being annoyed, he was intrigued by her, and took her in. The ice barricading his heart melted as Lavinia proved to be a loving little companion for him, and he educated her and raised her as his own child.

Lavinia has become his most treasured possession, and he tries desperately to protect her from the cruelty of a world she knows so little of, and to keep his haunted past from repeating itself through her.

This was made with graphite, watercolor, and digital media.

Has this carnival story been fleshed out into a full-on story, or in a comic book form, perhaps? Or are these pictures and short descriptions all there is to it for the time being? I would love to read more! :]

This makes me think so much of 'City of Lost Children', the french film directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet.. (he makes amazing films), the main characters are a tall tough guy (who was also a hunter!) who is super sweet who ends up taking care of an orphan girl.
I think you would have liked the film, it's very dark and creepy. With a lot of carnival-like aspects.. and a cute pair of conjoined twins character.

But anyways, I love the outfits, and, as from what I've been seeing in your gallery, this is adorable!

Words can't express how much I love your style; I've been looking for art like yours for a long time :D.
Can you please explain what process you go through to create a picture such as this? for example, when you would use digital media etc.
Thanks in advance, and keep the art coming! :)
