OMG!!! Fan art (especially GOOD fan art) of any Holly Black work is SO rare, especially Tithe/Ironside/Valiant (her newerish stuff is a lot more popular it seems) and this made all of my places happy forever. I have been trolling your gallery thinking *this is some really cool art, I like the whimsical and spooky feel of it and the colours are gorgeous* then I happen upon this and I think that now you are my favourite ever.
All your Holly Black work is so wonderful! You have a great style; both the drawing itself and the coloring really capture the urban faerie tale-ness of her stories. Love the texturing in this one, as well--subtly plays up the aged feeling.
I think the texture really helps. it adds a grunge look which I think is really necessary for a piece from this book. and the color scheme works really well with the texture. just over all I think it really captures the mood of the book.
This is wonderful. It's great to see that someone else out there has an interest in Tithe. I would have to say that the textures help the piece. I'm not really sure about how the texture works on the front left leg of the horse, but other than that it works very well.. I especially like the way that you did the cracks. Well done.
I love that book. It's my favorite book (I don't read a lot, so my scope in literature is limited). Holly Black is such a wonderful writer. I remember wanting to write like her when I first read The Spiderwick Chronicles.
i love this, one of the only good representations of kay ive ever seen. the texture just adds the dark feeling of the book, altho the carousel horse could be more rough and broken, but across the board on this one!
