Dust and Cobwebs

Journal Entry: Wed Dec 19, 2012, 7:46 AM

Good morning creeps!

I've finally finished moving all of my strange antiques into the new house I'm sharing with Mr. Cain. We've painted, and installed all of our modern conveniences into this lovely circa 1900 house.

I've been waging war on the dust and cobwebs since moving, and the spiders... you would not believe. I found their mother lurking in the most frightening of all places... the hard-to-reach crevice behind the toilet. It was a horrific fight, she being about the size of my entire hand, but I've managed to purge the house.

The house itself is strange. It's not very big, but it's the biggest house I've ever lived in. It has mysterious tiny doors that don't open, a cupboard under the stairs, fireplaces in every room, and tall ceilings (which is good, because Mr. Cain has the proportions of Slender Man). I'm already imagining the kind of hobgoblins who lurk in the walls and the monsters in the attic because something has to be making those noises at night...
I'm looking forward to making a garden of poisonous plants, having a creepy parlor, and getting the studio set up so I can get back to work.

So, I hope that everyone can bear with me as we settle in!

Keep creeping!

~A

Reading this made me think of a house my husband looked at when we were hunting for a home. 13 Adams lane. Coolest address ever.

Mr. Cain? Slender Man? Hm, a long time ago, so call my love... and looked the same. I have a house next to the lake. The most terrible is that on the second floor of the door, but not on the balcony ... just a door ... the size of a barn door, and downstairs is a room with a stuffed animal trophies. I love this house... At night can hear a strange noise too.

That sounds like a truly amazing house you have. And those little doors that don't open...that seems vaguely Coraline to me. :D

I used to live in a house like that, and it even had a cellar big enough to hold food for me and my three brothers. But now I'm in a little flat...

Don't kill all the spiders, a couple are always good to keep the really dangerous bugs out.

Oh I'm sure I haven't gotten them all - the cleverest ones got away, so they can live where I can't see them :)

That sound like such a wonderful house--the kind that inspires drawings and stories! I am intrigued by the little doors that don't open! Ah, spiders. I like watching them outside, but I will not share my home with them!

I moved into a new home a few weeks ago, we had a poisonious spider hanging out RIGHT by the front door. I fell in love with him as soon as I walked in. My boyfriend insisted we get rid of him, and I'm all "No! He's our gaurd spider! Leave him alone. He's happy, I'm happy, we're not in eachothers' spaces, just leave him alone. This is HIS home too, we can share. And technically, he WAS here first." [xD]
I love spiders. I think they are fantastic creatures. [^^]

As for the sounds:

“Villains!” I shrieked, “dissemble no more! I admit the deed! — tear up the planks! — here, here! — it is the beating of his hideous heart!”

All the best! Moving into a new house is like starting a new life (... well, sort of ;-))
